Membership Requirements

  • Must be age 50 by date of final tournament of the year
  • Must have a love of golf
  • Must have amateur status
  • Must enjoy playing on premium golf courses
  • Must enjoy playing competitive tournament golf under USGA rules
  • Must enjoy camaraderie with friends on the golf course
  • Must have World Handicap System (WHS)
    handicap to play in MSGA Tournaments *

Event Information

  • Ten (10) tournaments per season played at top-rated public, private and resort golf courses
    • GPS distance measuring devices are allowed for all tournaments.

  • Nine (9) tournaments played as Individual Medal Play tournaments
    • All flights handicapped
    • Three (3) sets of tees at approximately 5100, 5600 and 6100 yards are available for players to choose
    • To play 5100 tees, players must have a handicap index plus age of 85+
    • Each set of tees has two (2) flights
    • Entry fee for each event varies based on contracted costs
    • Entry fee includes:
      • 18 Holes of golf with cart (GPS if available)
      • Use of practice range/green
      • Lunch (unless noted) or lunch and dinner for final event

  • Awards fund
    • Awards for Low Gross (1) and Low Net (3-6) for each flight depending on number of players
    • Net Skins game for each flight
    • Closest-to-the-Pin contests (separate awards for each tee set)
    • Hole-in-One contest (all flights combined)

  • Start times:
    • Shotgun Start: 12:00 noon (CT) / 1:00 pm (ET) – (Unless noted)
    • Lunch: 10:30 am (CT) / 11:30 am (ET) – (Unless noted)

  • One (1) event played as Two-Man Best Ball Match-Play Championship played over two days
    • Flights determined by team handicap
    • Handicaps set by tees played – Players play their regular tees
    • Flight winners compete in shootout to determine MSGA Championship

Cost of Membership

Application Fee$25 (waived for new members for 2025 season)

Annual Dues$75 (payable with your application)

Annual Handicap Fee$40  (only for players using the MSGA/Blue Golf system which is compliant with USGA and WHS handicap requirements)

  • The MSGA requires a World Handicap System (WHS) handicap to play in MSGA Tournaments.
  • If your handicap is with a Golf Club/Country Club that is a member of the WHS, you may use that handicap.
  • If you do not have a WHS handicap, the MSGA provides a handicap service as an Associate Member of the Blue Golf System known as the MSGA/Blue Golf system.
  • The cost of MSGA/Blue Golf membership is $40 per year (payable to the MSGA).
